Professionals in EMS and Critical Care Transport often need different concentrations of intravenous dextrose, but seldom have the space or resources to carry them all. Mixing our own solutions is a viable option, but the math is complex and adds one more equation to that big list living in our head. That’s why we developed Dextrose Solutions, a fast and easy way to calculate a weight-based dextrose dose, prepare a dextrose solution using a base fluid and 50% Dextrose (D50), and modify the concentration of an existing dextrose solution using D50.
